Does what it says it does. Dec 03, 2008
By Eben W. Lindsey I purchased this with my Lamy Safari fountain pen, and I am glad I did. Using the converter allows me to use my choice of inks with my new pen. Operation is simple, twisting the top of the converter draws in ink through the nib. The converter also snaps securely into the pen, so there is no risk of it coming out.
This product does exactly what it should. No extra bells or whistles, and no buying extra ink cartridges.

Works perfectly. Oct 26, 2009

The converter works very well, though I still use cartridges for the pens that travel in my handbag. I keep the converter in the LAMY that stays at home. If the converter holds up for ,say, 6 to 12 months, with no leaks, then I try it on-the-go - which is the real goal of the Safari pen. (I have two because the Safari is one of my favorite pens- lightweight, good tactile experience of pen to paper, and smooth ink flow.)

A necessary accessory Jul 13, 2009
By mechagrue I wouldn't dream of using my Lamy Safari without one! I didn't care for the ink that comes in the cartridges. And the reason I went to a fountain pen was to prevent all the plastic waste from disposable ballpoint pens, so the disposable ink cartridges seemed like a waste.
These are very easy to use and refill - no mess, no inky fingers! Just dip the end into the ink bottle, then twist the red bit to move the plunger up and suck up the ink. Then it snaps right into the pen's barrel.
No leaks, no empty cartridge waste, and it lets you use whatever ink you like. (I'm smitten with Pelikan Brilliant Black.)

I was thrilled with this Mar 26, 2010

a certain part of my brain throws a party when small items work better than I expected. There was a party in my frontal lobe when i twisted the top and sucked up ink for the first time.

Great...but get a few Nov 30, 2009
By Liora Hess I have a couple of these to go with my Lamy Safari fountain pens. They work very easily and come with a little instruction sheet showing you how to lock the converter in place. I've used these with my Lamy Safari fountain pens and Noodler's bulletproof inks, and they've always worked well. Since this currently isn't an item that is sold under Prime, you might want to get a few of these if you plan to get more Lamy pens in the future since shipping can be comparatively costly for the price of the item.
Edited 12/2010 to add: Currently, seller Pen Boutique IS offering this item with free shipping. They are a proven seller that I've had several good experiences with both directly and through Amazon. I would recommend you purchase from them if Amazon Prime is not offering this item.
